Il mondo moderno è scosso da guerre, repressioni di stati totalitari, carestie. Molte persone lasciano le loro case in cerca di un modo per sopravvivere. L'Europa in generale e l'Italia in particolare stanno diventando una nuova patria per gli emigranti. Anche gli stessi italiani, spostandosi da una regione all'altra, possono sentirsi tagliati fuori dalle proprie radici: dalla cultura, dal dialetto, dalle tradizioni e dal sostegno dei propri cari. Lo scopo della mostra è quello di studiare l'esperienza degli emigranti nelle fasi di adattamento in un nuovo paese. L’obiettivo della mostra è esplorare le esperienze degli emigranti nelle fasi di adattamento in un nuovo paese. Si può diventare cittadini di un paese ospitante? Come cambiano i sentimenti verso il paese da cui ci allontaniamo? Cosa sono le radici umane? È una lingua madre, un luogo sulla mappa, ricordi d’infanzia? Le nostre radici rappresentano la nostra identità? Quali elementi formano la nostra identità? Invitiamo i visitatori a cercare le risposte a queste domande. Le maggiori difficoltà che incontrano i migranti sono generalmente rappresentate dalla comprensione della lingua e delle abitudini culturali dei paesi ospitanti. All’interno della mostra sarà allestito un gioco da tavola interattivo, che inviterà i visitatori a vivere un’esperienza da emigranti. Il gioco, intitolato Babylon, è stato creato da uno dei nostri artisti e mette alla prova la nostra capacità di comprendere una lingua straniera, prendere decisioni grandi e piccole in quella lingua e affrontare problemi che inevitabilmente troviamo quando arriviamo in un nuovo paese. Durante la preparazione della mostra, intendiamo organizzare momenti di confronto con esperti e rappresentanti di varie organizzazioni, scrittori, artisti. The Longest Sunset During a flight to Keflavík a The Longest Sunset During a flight to Keflavík airport, it is possible to see the sunset for many hours. Staying in Reykjavík during December is like living in a month-long sunset. Alessandro conceived “The Longest Sunset” as a transposition of a psychoanalytic journey into photographs, however, after start taking photographs, he realized what really mattered was feeling free and the ability to shoot without any preconception. Therefore, the direction for these works has been drawn by intuition and feeling, by having an honest approach and maintaining focus on the quiet secret and intimate relationship between the photographer and the landscape which he has fallen into. The ancient struggle of the survival of man against nature forms the background for images that don’t try to give answers. These photographs represent natural elements that are deeply connected to the unknown. There is a surreal aspect to the composition that obscures the interpretation of the image. This project was realized during December 2022 at @simresidency in Iceland. Searching for It is told that the cat Jólaköttu Searching for It is told that the cat Jólakötturinn hunts children during Christmas time. If they don’t receive new clothes for Christmas, he and his owner, Grýla the ogress, will come and eat the children. Her many sons, the Jólasveinar, come from the wilderness too, disturbing flocks of sheep, stealing food and slamming doors during the night in order to wake up all the inhabitants of the house. The elves do not like to be called this, they prefer the appellation Huldufólk (the hidden people). Only the pure of heart can see them, unless they decide to show themselves to someone. There are over fifty different types of elves. These figures animate the legends of Norse folklore and many Icelanders still grow up hearing the stories today. A high percentage of the population believes in these stories, but even those who are sceptical prefer not to risk to be disrespectful toward them. In fact, it has happened in several occasions that the machinery employed for the construction of roads or buildings would stop working with no logical reason. In these cases, it is believed that the rocks that were about to be removed were actually a house inhabited by the hidden people (álfasteinar). They have also appeared in dreams to people asking to not remove neither damage their houses. For this reason, ancient rocks have been left in place and the roads or houses have been built around them. Those who visit Iceland are faced with a very powerful nature and can only begin to believe in the existence of trolls. Here, you can see trolls sculpted in the surrounding landscape: in fact, if surprised by the sunlight, they turn into huge stone sculptures! The hidden people can be sometimes mischievous, but they often offer their help to the Icelandic community. In general, they are capable of causing unexplainable happenings. The presence of all these creatures can be felt at any time of year, either immersed in nature or Icelandic cities at night, but the energy is especially strong during the liminal month of December. Sono Alessandro
Mallamaci, sono un fotografo professionista, insegno fotografia e tengo corsi e workshop intensivi di fotografia e post-produzione da oltre 10 anni . Fujifilm ambassador dal 2013 al 2015, docente della prestigiosa Leica Akademie Italy fino al 2021 e a collaborare con la EIZO Color Academy, a tenere con regolarità corsi e workshop intensivi di fotografia e post-produzione, a fondare uno dei centri di formazione più importanti in Italia nel settore fotografico e diventare esperto di stampa fine art.

Sono socio Tau Visual, Associazione Nazionale Fotografi Professionisti e sono rappresentato dalla Galleria Valeria Bella di Milano.

Nel 2023 sono stato tra i dieci fotografi selezionati ai Sony World Photography Awards, sono stato selezionato per la mostra The Performing Photobook, curata da Francesca Serravalle per il festival Format International Photography Festival a Derby, per la collettiva internazionale Con e senza radici a Pisa, per l’esposizione Back on the Shelf presso la galleria Filter Photo a Chicago.

Nel 2022 ho ricevuto un bronzo al Tokyo International Foto Awards, sono stato tra i vincitori della Open Call del Belfast Photo Festival e della Open Call Lightland con una giuria presieduta da Vittorio Storato. Inoltre sono stato selezionato tra i partecipanti alle letture portfolio del festival di fotografia Revela’T in Spagna e all’Imago Lisboa Photo Festival in Portogallo, tra centinaia di candidati.

Nel 2021 sono stato selezionato all’Andy Rocchelli Grant e ho ricevuto la menzione speciale all’Urbanautica Institute Annual Award.

Nel 2018 ho curato l’allestimento della mostra “Malta 2018” alla Leica Galerie a Milano, progetto realizzato in collaborazione con Leica Camera Italia e Malta Tourism Authority.

Nel 2017 e nel 2018 sono stato consulente scientifico per la produzione Sky Arts “Master of Photography“. Sono stato finalista a Portfolio Italia nel 2015 e, nello stesso anno, ho esposto al SiFest Off. Ho collaborato a Miss Italia nel 2011.

Ho pubblicato il libro “Tamburi della Sila – Costruttori e suonatori dei Casali Cosentini” nel 2006, Squilibri Editore.
